Fourier Analysis

Fundamental theory

1. Overview

An arbitrary function can be approximated by a sum of sines and cosines of increasing frequencies. These sines and cosines basically forms orthogonal basis for the space of possible functions, just like in 2D space, we have x and y coordinates that form basis that could represent any 2D vectors in the space.
